Bring on the “Number Cake” Birthday Card

My nephew turned 2 today, so I made him this card. I really like this number stamp from Bring on the Cake, and I especially like to emboss it before coloring in the numbers.

The card base is Riding Hood Red, layered with Nursery Suite DSP. I stamped the numbers onto whisper white and then heat embossed with Black Embossing Powder. I colored in the numbers with So Saffron Marker and the number 2 with Riding Hood Red Marker. Then, I used the Corner Rounder Punch on the top corners to make it look like a cake.

The “cake stand” is a strip of Tempting Turquoise punched with the Scallop Edge Border Punch. I used the cropadile to add holes to each scallop and then threaded White Taffeta Ribbon through the holes.

I used chocolate chip card stock behind the cake to frame it. White Gel Pen around the edges makes it pop and coordinates with the white details in the DSP. At the bottom, I added 3 old olive buttons from the Designer Buttons Brights Collection.

{Pink & Green & Sparkly} 13th Birthday Card

I think this card is teen and girlie, right? I know girlie, but I haven’t been a teenager in a long time, and my daughter’s only 4 so I tried my best to make my niece (who, OMG, is 13 already-when did that happen?) a birthday card she would like.

The color combo is Melon Mambo, Old Olive, and Pretty in Pink. It’s a little loud and I’ll admit I went overboard with the bling, but I like it a lot! My husband thinks his niece will like it, and he’s always mesmerized by Crystal Effects, which he calls “glossy stuff”.

The numbers are from Bring on the Cake stamped in Versamark on Whisper White card stock and Heat Embossed with Black Embossing Powder. I colored in the numbers with Pretty in Pink Marker, and the 1 & 3 with Old Olive Marker. Then, I used Crystal Effects aka “the glossy stuff” to highlight the 13 and give it dimension.

I punched out the numbers with a 2 1/4″ Circle Punch and layered it onto Old Olive punched with the 2 3/8″ Scallop Circle Punch. In each scallop, I added Basic Rhinestone Jewels. Behind the scallop circle, I folded Old Olive 5/8″ Grosgrain Ribbon and cut the ends diagonally with my Craft & Paper Scissors (which cut ribbon like a dream). That is attached to the card with stampin dimensionals.

The card base is Melon Mambo textured card stock layered with Old Olive. I used the Cutter Kit to distress the edges of the card stock. Next, I used pink polka dot paper from the Love Patterns DSP and stamped it with “happy birthday” from Bring on the Cake in Old Olive ink. To finish it off, I decided to paper pierce around the edges and add faux stitching with the Signo White Gel Pen.

Inside, I used some more of the Love Patterns DSP, layered with Whisper White card stock. I stamped the sentiment in Basic Black ink and then colored in the letters with Melon Mambo, Pretty in Pink, and Old Olive Marker.

Valentine Card Treats for Kids

Here is a cute idea for class valentines. The little cards are covering Charms Sweet Pops.

For the girls in the class, I chose to use the Greeting Card Kids stamp set. The little girl holding the heart is adorable! I stamped the image on Whisper White card stock (2″ x 2 3/4″) with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and colored it in with Copic Markers. On the heart, I used the 2 way glue pen and romantic red glitter for a bit of sparkle. The sentiment is from Filled with Love stamped in Real Red ink. That piece is matted onto designer paper (2 1/4″ x 3″)  from the Love Patterns DSP (part of the Filled with Love Promotion but can be purchased separately as well). Finally, the card base is Pretty in Pink card stock (2 1/2″ x 6 1/2″) folded in half. I stapled the bottom closed after sliding in a lollipop.

As for the boys, my daughter and I chose Make a Monster stamp set. The image was stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and colored with Copic Markers, then I went over it with Pear Pizzaz Marker so it would match the green in the Nursery Suite DSP. The card base is Close to Cocoa (retired). To make the card a bit more fun, I gave the monster some googly eyes and highlighted his teeth with the Signo White Gel Pen. The sentiment is from Filled with Love, stamped in Marina Mist ink.

On the back, I added some Whisper White card stock and had my daughter write her classmates’ names, as well as her own.
