Elements of Style Card Samples

Here are several cards made with Elements of Style. It’s a popular stamp but it’s not the style I normally gravitate toward. My upline (hi Cindy!) asked me to help her come up with some ideas for swaps using this set and these are the results:

Version 1

Stamps: Elements of Style; Card stock: Regal Rose, Shades of Spring DSP, Old Olive, Whisper White, Apricot Appeal; Ink: Old Olive Marker, Regal Rose Marker, Old Olive Classic Ink, Pretty in Pink Classic Ink; Accessories: Modern Label Punch, Beautiful Wings Embosslit, Big Shot, Sponge Dauber, Circle Rhinestone Brad, Dimensionals, Cropadile, Glue Dots.

Version 2:

Stamps: Elements of Style, Tiny Tags; Card stock: Rose Red, Cottage Wall DSP, Very Vanilla, Watercolor Paper;  Ink: Old Olive Marker, Rose Red Marker, Old Olive Classic Ink, Rich Razzleberry Classic Ink; Accessories: Scallop Trim Border Punch, Tiny Tag Punch, Linen Thread, Certainly Celery Satin Ribbon, Aquapainter, Champagne Shimmer Paint Spray (70% Rubbing Alcohol mixed with a few drops of Champagne Shimmer Paint).

Version 3

Stamps: Elements of Style; Card stock: Soft Suede, Very Vanilla, Real Red Prints Pack, Vellum Card Stock; Ink: Soft Suede Marker, Close to Cocoa Reinker, Champagne Shimmer Paint; Accessories: Sponge Dauber, 3/4″ Circle Punch, 1″ Circle Punch, Scallop Trim Border Punch, Very Vanilla 5/8″ Grosgrain, Circle Rhinestone brads, Mini Glue Dots, Cropadile, Dimensionals.

It’s hard to see in the picture, but I sponged a mixture of Close to Cocoa Reinker and Champagne Shimmer Paint directly on the image, then stamped it onto the vellum.

Version 4

Stamps: Elements of Style; Card stock: Close to Cocoa, Rich Razzleberry, Very Vanilla; Ink: Old Olive Classic Ink, Rich Razzleberry Classic Ink, Close to Cocoa Reinker, Champagne Shimmer Paint; Accessories: Scallop Trim Border, Paper Piercer, Rich Razzleberry Polka Dot Ribbon, Scallop Oval Punch, Large Oval Punch, Sponge Dauber,  Dimensionals, Cropadile, Glue Dots, Champagne Shimmer Paint Spray (70% Rubbing Alcohol mixed with a few drops of Champagne Shimmer Paint) (Shown here on the bird and the close to cocoa base).

Version 5: I think I hate the green butterfly. I may try a different color, maybe white with sponging, or black, or razzleberry?

6×6 Scrapbook Page Layout {Welcome Neighbor DSP & Sweet Pea Stitched Felt}

It’s been ages since I’ve made a scrapbook page. I don’t normally make 6×6 Scrapbook Page Layouts, but I had this picture of my daughter on my desk, then I saw this cute patterned paper from Welcome Neighbor, and I just went from there. Since the page is small, I wanted the focus to be on the photo.

The 4″x4″ photo is layered onto a 4 1/4″ square of Old Olive card stock. I then took a 4 1/4″ x 2″ strip of Old Olive and used the Scallop Trim Border Punch to make the scalloped edge, tucking it under the Old Olive photo mat.

In the upper corner, I added Sweet Pea Stitched Felt flowers and leaves, layering them with Glue Dots and attaching it to the page with a large Glue Dot. It gives the page a pop of color and since she’s looking up in that direction in the picture, it was a good place to put the flower.

I kept journaling to a minimum so the focus would be on the picture. The sentiment “Everything grows with love” is from Love Matters (retired–but has many great sayings in handwriting style font). I inked up the different parts of the stamp using the Chocolate Chip and Rose Red Markers, then stamped it onto Very Vanilla using the Stamp-a-majig to get a 2 line setup.

Next, I punched out the Very Vanilla card stock using the Curly Label Punch and sponged the edges using a mixture of Close to Cocoa Reinker and Champagne Shimmer Paint. I just add a drop of Reinker and a drop of Shimmer Paint into an old brad or button container, dip a Sponge Dauber in, and start sponging. This combo makes a really nice Bronze colored shimmery ink, which goes great with the sepia tones in the picture. I attached it to the page using Stampin Dimensionals.

That’s it–pretty simple. I think I like the 6″x 6″ size page for 1 photo layouts. I will be trying more 6″x6″ pages to see what other types of layouts work best. Thanks for stopping by today!

Make Your Own Bronze Ink: Thanksgiving Place Cards

I made these quick and simple place cards last night. The base is a 4″x4″ square of kraft card stock, the corners trimmed with the Corner Rounder Punch. Then, I folded them in half and glued on a 4″ x 1 1/4″ strip of Holiday Bulk Buy DSP in this tangerine pattern.

I’ve been using Shimmer Paint a lot lately, and for this project, I created a sparkly Bronze Ink by mixing a couple drops of Chocolate Chip Reinker and Champagne Shimmer Paint. I mix them in an empty button container, then dab it onto my stamp with a Sponge Dauber.

For these place cards, I stamped “Give Thanks” from Holiday Best in the chocolate chip/shimmer paint and stamped it onto Very Vanilla card stock. Then, I punched it out using the Large Oval Punch and layered it onto Bronze Card Stock (Taste of Textiles, retired) that I punched with the Scallop Oval Punch. (Some of the ovals are matted onto textured chocolate chip card stock because I did not have enough Bronze.) The shimmer is hard to see but here is a close up view:

To finish off the cards, I wrote our names in a dark brown Sharpie on Very Vanilla card stock, punched out with the Modern Label Punch. I sponged Tangerine Tango ink around the edges with the Sponge Dauber and adhered them with mini glue dots.
