Creative Calligraphy

calligraphy

The idea for this card came about after seeing some of the stamps and artwork on this site. Since I didn’t have a “hello” stamp that looked like calligraphy, I decided I would draw my own. My calligraphy marker went missing during my last desk reorganization (I can never find things when I clean up–somehow it seemed like a good place to put it at the time!) but then I remembered coming across “fake calligraphy” when I was working on another project.

I practiced a few times on a piece of scrap paper until I had a good feel for it. I used a fine tip black marker to draw the word “hello”, then went over it with the clear Wink of Stella pen. I matted the white card stock on Basic Black card stock, layered with Silver Glimmer Paper.

The card base is Pool Party card stock. I folded it at 5 1/4″, then used the Scalloped Edge Punch along the bottom. I stamped the flower image from Creative Elements in black ink.

To finish the card, I tied some 5/8″ Satin Black Ribbon around the card front.

Blended Bloom Cards {Colored with Blendabilities Markers}

Blended Bloom is a great all occasion stamp for coloring with Blendabilities Markers. The markers come in three shades (dark, medium, and light) which makes shading and blending very easy. For this birthday card, I colored the flower with the Cherry Cobbler Blendabilities, then cut it out. The center was colored with Daffodil Delight and Pumpkin Pie Blendabilities.

I used the Elegant Lines Embossing Folder on Very Vanilla card stock, added a strip of cherry cobbler card stock, then adhered the flower on top with stampin dimensionals.

The sentiment is from Endless Birthday Wishes. I used the oval punch to cut it out, then added 2 Basic Rhinestones that I colored with the cherry cobbler Blendabilities. These alcohol markers can color anything–buttons, pearls, rhinestones.

Here is another example of the flower from Blended Bloom, colored with Old Olive Blendabilities Markers. The card base is In Color Blackberry Bliss, layered with Hello Honey. The sentiment is from a stamp I had on hand. I like the flower colored in green–it reminds me of an artichoke for some reason and looks so pretty.

Father’s Day {Super Hero Card} With How-To Directions

fathersday_super

This is such a fun card. Keeping with my trend of quick and easy Father’s Day cards, here is another one made with My Digital Studio download Because I’m the Dad. When I saw the “use the force” image, I envisioned the aqua blue and yellow glow of a light saber. That is how the colors for the card came about.

This is a hybrid card, because it uses digital images, as well as traditional card making techniques. It’s like the best of both worlds when you want to make a custom card or project. You can create exactly what you picture in your mind.

In order to make the banner, you will need to use the Flag Punch in My Digital Studio. These are the pieces you need:

fathers day2-005

Flag Punch (2 pieces), resized to fit your card; Square Punch (1) sized to fit inside the banner to cover up the yellow line down the middle; and Because I’m the Dad stamp image from My Digital Studio download (shown here in Coastal Cabana).

First, resize the flag punch to your desired size. Then, choose Black as your fill color. Choose Yellow as your Mat (size 3 setting shown here). You will have to rotate it 90 degrees to get it horizontal like this.

Next, copy your Flag Punch and paste a copy to your page. Choose “Flip” to make the flag copy look like a mirror image of the original. Align them as shown above. To “erase” the yellow line running down the middle, insert a Square Punch and resize it to fit just inside the yellow outline of the banner. Choose Black as the fill color.

Lastly, insert your stamp image and recolor it accordingly. I chose Coastal Cabana. Resize as needed and layer it on top of your banner.

Then, just print out the image on Whisper White card stock. Trim out the banner using scissors and bend/roll it slightly using your fingers to give it the wavy look.

The card base here is Basic Gray, layered with Whisper White and some Yellow printed Summer Smooches Designer Series Paper.

I attached the banner with 3 stampin dimensionals and added 3 Coastal Cabana stars made with a Star Punch.
