The new Basic Pearls Jewel Accents are backed with adhesive, so sticking them on any project is simple. Here, I decorated some of my cakes from Birthday Bakery (Hostess Level 1) with them!

I stamped the cakes onto Whisper White and colored them in with Copic Markers. Across the top and the bottom, I paper pierced the white card stock and layered it onto Pink Pirouette.

The base is Crumb Cake, layered with a scrap of Shades of Spring DSP I had in my desk drawer. Across the front, from top to bottom, I wrapped a piece of 1″ Chocolate Chip Satin Ribbon around the DSP and tied a smaller piece into a knot at the top. Then, I attached the stamped layer to the base with stampin dimensionals.

Here are several cards made with Elements of Style. It’s a popular stamp but it’s not the style I normally gravitate toward. My upline (hi Cindy!) asked me to help her come up with some ideas for swaps using this set and these are the results:

I copied this card from the May issue of Stampin Success, by Jolene Slack, on page 23. Unfortunately, I am not allowed to post the original picture, but it was featured in the new Color Renovation section. Jolene’s sample used new Marina Mist, here, I substituted Baja Breeze, a returning In Color.

The card base is made from a 5 1/4″ x 10 1/2″ piece of Baja Breeze, folded in half. Next, I took a 5″ square of Shades of Spring DSP in the Certainly Celery pattern and layered it on the card base.

I used the Scallop Square Bigz Die and the Big Shot to cut a scallop square from Parisian Breeze DSP (retired). I sponged Baja Breeze ink along the edges using a Sponge Dauber, then adhered it to the base with Stampin Dimensionals.

Using more paper from Shades of Spring DSP, I layered a 3 1/4″ square of Certainly Celery on a 3″ square of DSP, attaching it to the base with SNAIL adhesive.

The square window was made by embossing Certainly Celery card stock with the Swiss Dots embossing folder and the Big Shot. Then, I cut the embossed piece down to 2″ square. I punched a window in the center with the 1 1/4″ Square Punch and sponged the frame with Certainly Celery ink. I stamped “Blessed” from So Very (a retired SAB set) in Baja Breeze on Whisper White, layering it behind the window. I also stamped an image from Tiny Tags in Certainly Celery ink, stamped off, randomly over the whisper white.

At the top, I added a loop of Baja Breeze Satin Ribbon from Valet Ribbon Originals and a half back sticky pearl. Finally, I adhered the window piece to the base with Stampin Dimensionals.

Ribbon weaving is addicting! Once I start I want to use it on everything I make. Here are some other examples of cards I made using the ribbon weaving technique.

I’ll go through what I used to make the card, and for those of you who would like detailed instructions, keep reading below. The card base is Gina K Luxury Base weight card stock. I punched various DSP with the Large Oval Punch to make eggs. I adhered them to the card base using SNAIL.

The bunny was made using the Large Oval Punch & Scallop Oval Punch (for the ears),  1 3/4″ Circle Punch (f0r the face), 1/4″ Circle Punch (for the nose). I drew on the mouth and whiskers, then glued on some googly eyes.

The basket is made with Pretty in Pink Satin Ribbon and Certainly Celery Satin Ribbon. The sentiment is from Well Scripted, stamped in Certainly Celery ink on Whisper White. I punched it out with the Large Oval Punch and layered it onto Pretty in Pink Patterned Paper, punched out with the Scallop Oval Punch.

How to make the Easter Basket using the Ribbon Weaving Technique (with 5/8″ Satin Ribbon)

Step 1: Cut a piece of card stock to 4 3/8″ x 1 7/8″. This is the card stock you will wrap the ribbon around for the basket portion. It won’t be visible so feel free to use any color. The measurements are weird because we’re using 5/8″ ribbon and your card stock has to be a multiple of 5/8″.

Step 2: Cut 3 strips of 5/8″ PINK satin ribbon about 5″ long and 7 strips of 5/8″ GREEN satin ribbon about 3″ long.

Step 3: Using SNAIL adhesive, run a line of adhesive on the RIGHT short side and along the TOP edge of your card stock. Carefully attach your GREEN ribbon strips along the TOP EDGE, being careful to keep the ribbon pieces just touching each other (not overlapping and not leaving a gap between them). There should be about 1/2″ of ribbon attached to the card stock and the rest of the ribbon should hang off the top, away from the card stock. Do the same with your PINK ribbon along the RIGHT EDGE, with the strips of ribbon hanging off toward the right.

Step 4: Turn your card stock over so that the adhered edges of ribbon are on the back side. Your PINK ribbon should be on the LEFT side now and the GREEN ribbon should be on the TOP edge.

Step 5: Start weaving your ribbon like you would do a lattice pie crust. Pull the strips tight as you weave, making sure you keep them straight. I start by folding the PINK across the front of the card stock and then weaving the short GREEN ribbon over and under. When you get to the bottom, fold the GREEN ribbon over and adhere it to the back of the card stock with SNAIL. Repeat with the rest of the ribbon strips.

Step 6: Cut a piece of green card stock or DSP (here I used Tall Tales) to 4″ x 2 1/2″. Adhere it to the back of your card stock to hide all the edges of ribbon. Leave about 1/2″ extending at the top to make the grass. I cut the paper with paper snips, then bent some pieces forward and back to make the “grass”.

Step 7: Put 2 pieces of Sticky Strip on the back of the basket piece (one along each SHORT SIDE). Attach the basket to the card base by sticking down the left side first, then gently bend the card stock slightly and stick the other side down so the basket edges line up with the edges of the card.

Step 8: Adhere all your eggs and bunny face to the card so they’re peeking out of the basket.

Step 9: Cut a long piece of Certainly Celery Satin Ribbon for the handle. I attached it to the back/inside of the basket using Glue Dots. I also added Glue Dots at the top of the handle, where the ribbon folds over, on both sides. Tie a piece of Pretty in Pink Satin Ribbon at the top and snip with Craft & Paper Scissors. Secure the pink ribbon knot to the card by placing a glue dot on the back.

The above card was really simple to make. The base is Bashful Blue card stock, cut to 4 1/4″ x 11″ and folded at the top. I used Shades of Spring DSP as the background in a purple and white floral pattern. The stamp is from It’s A Stretch, stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black ink on Gina K luxury white, colored in with Copic Markers. I matted the image layer onto a strip of Bashful Blue and then added a small yellow Circle Rhinestone Brad in the center of the flower with the Cropadile.

Next, I punched along the two long sides of a strip of white card stock with the Scallop Trim Border Punch. I mounted the image layer and mat to the white strip with Stampin Dimensionals. That was then adhered to the base with SNAIL adhesive.

Lastly, I made this card using It’s A Stretch. The base is Gina K Luxury Base Weight, layered with Shades of Spring DSP. I stamped the image in Memento Tuxedo Black again, and colored it in with Copic Markers. That was layered onto a strip of Rose Red card stock and then I tied some Pretty in Pink Satin Ribbon around the front. I snipped the edges with my Craft & Paper Scissors into little V’s.  Simply adhere the image layer to the base using Stampin Dimensionals and you’re done!

Inside, I stamped a sentiment from On Your Birthday in Rose Red ink.

I happened to see this stamp in a bin at the craft store last week and scooped it up because it reminded me of SU’s A Good Egg. The matching Easter greeting was also too cute to pass up! Since I was snowed in today, I had time to make three versions of Easter cards–read on for the details.

Above: Card base is Barely Banana card stock, layered with Shades of Spring DSP. Stamped image is from Studio G, stamped on Gina K luxury white card stock, colored in with Copic Markers. After coloring in the chick, I applied glue using the 2-way Glue Pen and sprinkled Martha Stewart white flocking powder on top.  (Close up view below). I also embellished the shell using the Glue Pen and Dazzling Diamonds Glitter.

To finish off the card, I made a faux bow by taking Certainly Celery Satin Ribbon, making two loops, and pinching the center with a Circle Rhinestone Brad.

The second card is a 4 1/4″ square card, on Gina K luxury base weight card stock, layered with Tall Tales DSP cut to 4″ square. I stamped the chick and colored it in with Copic markers again, making it fuzzy with Martha Stewart flocking powder. Then, I layered it on Barely Banana card stock, and adhered it to the base with Stampin Dimensionals.

Lastly, the third version uses many of the same techniques I described above. In addition, I paper pierced around the main layer and popped it up with Stampin Dimensionals. The patterned paper is from Shades of Spring and goes perfectly with the theme of this card.

I made this card for a color challenge on Splitcoast. The colors were Chocolate Chip, Sage Shadow, and Dusty Durango (plus a neutral like Whisper White or Very Vanilla). An additional option was to use patterned paper.

The card base is Dusty Durango textured card stock, layered with Autumn Vine DSP in a Sage Shadow pattern. On top of that is Chocolate Chip textured card stock. All the corners of this card were rounded using the Corner Chomper set to the 1/2″ setting.

I stamped the boy bear from Beary Best Friends in Chocolate Chip ink on Very Vanilla card stock and colored him in with Copic Markers. Again, I rounded the corners and layered it onto Dusty Durango card stock. Then, using the paper piercer, I pierced holes in the Very Vanilla card stock and attached it with Stampin Dimensionals.

The sentiment is from Picture This (Hostess Level 1 set from the Occasions Mini). I stamped it in Sage Shadow ink on Very Vanilla card stock and cut it out with the Word Window Punch. That was layered on a Dusty Durango Modern Label Punch, adhered with Stampin Dimensionals. On either side of the label, I added Chocolate Chip Epoxy Brads, also from the Occasions Mini.

Since I had the Beary Best Friends stamp out, I decided to make a girl Build A Bear version. The card base is Going Gray, layered with Rich Razzleberry textured card stock and a polka dot paper from Shades of Spring DSP. The dots are pale plum on Very Vanilla, very subtle.

I stamped the bear in Going Gray ink on Very Vanilla card stock, coloring her in with Copic Markers. That is layered onto Rich Razzleberry textured card stock. I added a border at the bottom using the Scallop Trim Border Punch.

To finish off the card, I stamped “from me to you” from So Many Sayings in Rich Razzleberry ink on Very Vanilla card stock. I cut that out with the Word Window Punch and layered it onto Rich Razzleberry Modern Label Punch.

This card sketch is perfect for showcasing designer series paper. The base is Chocolate Chip card stock, layered with Regal Rose. On top of that, I used Shades of Spring DSP in this awesome  print. I just love these flowers and colors! They also come in purples and greens too.

The butterflies were made using the Beautiful Wings Embosslit and the Big Shot in Regal Rose, Chocolate Chip and Barely Banana card stock. I layered them with Mini Glue Dots and attached them to a piece of Whisper White matted on Barely Banana and Chocolate chip. Around the 4 corners of the Whisper White, I stamped the filigree stamp from Chic Boutique in Chocolate chip ink.

To finish off the card, I tied Regal Rose 5/8″ Grosgrain Ribbon around the card in a knot. With my super Craft & Paper Scissors (which are not going to be used for paper ever!) I snipped the edges of the ribbon into points. They are so sharp and cut ribbon perfectly.

There is no sentiment on this card and honestly I couldn’t find a place to put one. A tiny tag hanging off the ribbon knot would probably be the best way to add a sentiment, but for now, I’m leaving it blank.

I made this card for my friend’s birthday–can you tell it’s supposed to be a cupcake? Technically, this is not the card I sent her, but an exact replica. The reason I had to make another card is because in my excitement, I made the card, put it in an envelope and dropped it at the post office BEFORE I took a picture! Where was my head??

The base is Chocolate chip card stock, layered with Shades of Spring DSP in a large pink dotted pattern.

The cupcake was made with chocolate chip card stock (I cut the shape of the base with scissors), then passed it through the Crimper. All of the hearts are from I {Heart} Hearts stamped in Regal Rose, Pretty in Pink and Close to Cocoa ink. Then I punched them out with the Heart to Heart Punch. They are attached to the Whisper White base using Mini Glue Dots and Stampin Dimensionals.

Across the front of the cupcake, I added a sentiment. I stamped “happy birthday” from Goody Goody Gumdrops in Regal Rose Marker on Whisper White and punched that out with the Word Window Punch. Then, I layered that onto a Regal Rose Modern Label Punch attached with Stampin Dimensionals.

I made these place cards for my Aunt’s 50th Birthday party. I wanted them to be elegant and fun, but not too formal. Shades of Spring DSP made a perfect backdrop for the place cards, cut to 3 1/2″ x 2″. The Basic Black card stock was cut to just under 3 3/4″ x 4 1/2″. Then, I used the Scallop Trim Border Punch along the 3 3/4″ side and folded it in half as shown.

Next, I adhered the Shades of Spring DSP to the black card stock with SNAIL adhesive. The ribbon is Certainly Celery 5/8″ Satin Ribbon, which I tied around the inside of the place card and knotted in the front.

The names and table numbers were printed on the computer, punched out with the Large Oval Punch and layered on Basic Black card stock I punched out with the Scalloped Oval Punch. That was then attached to the front with a Stampin Dimensional.
