Whimsical Autumn Wedding Invitation

I came across a similar wedding invitation last year when looking for inspiration for my brother-in-law’s fall wedding invitations. You can see the design they decided on here.

This version is a sample I created for a client (hi Erica). It was created using My Digital Studio. I used a combination of brush stamp sets including Cheep Talk, Circle Circus, and Bold Branches. The finished size is 5″x7″. After printing on Very Vanilla card stock, I layered it with More Mustard and Chocolate Chip card stock.

To give it a bit more dimension, I used Versamark marker and Clear Embossing powder on the circles and the bird. This really makes it pop and gives it a more polished look. It’s difficult to photograph, but it looks great in person!

Fall/Autumn DIY Wedding Ideas

I’ve been pretty quiet the past week or so, because THIS is what I’ve been up to!

Wedding cake, invitations, decorations, etc. Not MY wedding–my brother in law and my new sister in law got married over the weekend in a beautiful, rustic, perfect fall wedding.

I offered to help with invitations, cake, and anything else they needed. Here are the results!

Carrot Cake

Wedding Cake is a rustic 3 tier (12″, 9″, 6″) Carrot Cake with Cream Cheese Frosting. I added some cinnamon and honey to the frosting, which gave it a nice flavor and slightly tan color, which matched the Raffia tied around the bottom of each tier.

Caramel Apple Favors

The apples were dipped in melted caramel (Kraft caramels worked the best!), chopped walnuts & heath bar bits. We used twigs from my yard as a stick and tied the bags closed with various colors of raffia. I made the thank you tag with the Day of Gratitude stamp set, Very Vanilla card stock, and punched them out with a 1 1/8″ Circle Punch.

Modern Wedding Card {Poppy & Gray}

I made this for a friend who was attending a wedding last week. The card is a 6″ square, made from a 12″x6″ sheet of textured basic gray card stock, folded in half.

Across the front, I layered 2 strips of poppy parade DSP from the In Color Prints Pack (Hostess Level 1) on Whisper White and overlapped them.

The stamped image is from a retired set called Year After Year. I stamped it on Whisper White card stock using Basic Gray ink and shaded it just a bit with gray Copic Markers. Then, I used the 2 Way Glue Pen and Dazzling Diamonds Glitter to add sparkle to the cake.

I layered that onto squares of Poppy Parade and Basic Gray card stock, paper piercing the corners.

The glitter letters & numbers are Making Memories glitter alphabet stickers.

Across the front and back, I tied White 3/8″ Taffeta Ribbon into a bow to close the card.

Inside, I forgot to take a picture, but I used a sheet of Poppy Parade DSP (same as on the front) layered with Whisper White and stamped a sentiment.
