For Dads

Although this card was for Father’s Day, it can be used for Dad’s Birthday or any other special occasion. Since it was for my husband, I went with his favorite colors: Green and Blue (well he really likes green, but I added some Indigo in there for good measure).

The card base is new In Color Lucky Limeade (available July 1st), layered with Island Indigo (another new In Color) and Nursery Suite DSP in the Old Olive/White combo.

Across the front, I took a strip of Island Indigo and wrapped Twill Tape around it. Then, using the cropadile, I added some pewter colored Jumbo Eyelets to either side.

In the center, I used Take a Spin and inked up the stamp once with Lucky Limeade and another time with Island Indigo ink. Then I stamped it each time onto Whisper White and punched out the Limeade image’s inner circle with the 1 3/4″ Circle Punch and hand cut the Indigo image’s outer circle very close to the stamped image with scissors. I added in a Game Spinner Hand and then popped up the smaller circle with stampin dimensionals. Finally, it was all layered onto Daffodil Delight card stock, punched with the 2 1/2″ Circle Punch.

The sentiment at the bottom is from To a Classic, stamped with Lucky Limeade and Island Indigo Markers. I punched it out with the Word Window Punch and then layered it onto Island Indigo Modern Label Punch. That is also up on stampin dimensionals.

“Birthday Wishes” Game Spinner Card

I think this Take a Spin stamp set is perfect for making birthday cards. Young or old, anyone would enjoy getting this type of card and spinning it over and over again. I know I do it when I’m making the cards!

The card base is So Saffron, layered with Chocolate Chip cut to 4″ x 5 1/4″. Then, I used Nursery Suite Specialty DSP in the So Saffron/White pattern cut to 3 3/4″ x 3″. Above that, across the front of the card, I used 1 1/4″ Striped Grosgrain in Pumpkin Pie.

I used Stampin UP Markers to color the stamp (direct to stamp), then colored in some of the images with the Markers as well. The colors I used were: Early Espresso, Marina Mist, Wild Wasabi, Real Red, Pumpkin Pie, Regal Rose, and Daffodil Delight.

The game board is layered on a 2″ square of Marina Mist card stock, and I used the Game Spinner Hands from the Occasions Mini Catalog. For more tips and tricks on using the Game Spinner Hands, see this card I made.

Finally, the sentiment at the bottom is from So Happy for You from the Sale-a-bration catalog, stamped in Chocolate Chip ink.

Take a Spin {Fun Birthday Spinner Card}

Well, Birthday season in my family has officially begun. It starts off slowly in February, then gets CRAZY in March (8 birthdays in the month of March alone) and then every month thereafter. I guess I”ll be making a lot of birthday cards!

This Take a Spin stamp set is a lot of fun. I went to town coloring in all the images with my SU Markers, both directly onto the stamp and then filling in some of the images after it was stamped.

There are 4 different stamps in the set, and the Game Spinner Hands are sold separately in a set of 12.

As you can see from the close up above, I colored the majority of the stamp with Chocolate Chip Marker, (direct to stamp)  using Real Red, Daffodil Delight, Pumpkin Pie, and Marina Mist as accent colors. Then, I stamped onto Whisper White card stock and trimmed around the game board.

Next, I stamped the image a second time, with White Craft ink onto Marina Mist card stock, heat embossing with White Embossing Powder.

Using the cropadile, I punched a hole in the center of the game board and attached the Game Spinner Hand.  Then, I adhered that piece to the Marina Mist card stock using stampin dimensionals. TIP: If you just slightly bend the ends of the Spinner Hands upward it will spin easily.

My new favorite thing, Daffodil Delight Pom Pom Trim, was glued around the Marina Mist card stock with Tombow Mono Multi. I added a square of card stock behind this piece with stampin dimensionals for added stability so the game board wouldn’t cave in when you touch the spinner.

The card base is Chocolate Chip, which I ran through the Big Shot with the Square Lattice Embossing Folder. The ribbon is 1 1/4″ Striped Grosgrain in Marina Mist.

Inside, I lined the card with Marina Mist and Whisper White card stock. I swiped the edges of the White in Chocolate Chip ink and stamped 2 sentiments from Bring on the Cake.
