Gatefold cards are easy to make, and you can find many tutorials online. Below, I’ve provided measurements for this card, but you can alter them to make any size card you like. I was inspired by the recent Stampin Success issue I received, more specifically, the sunflower.
Sunflower Instructions:
- Run So Saffron card stock through the Big Shot with the Scallop Circle Bigz Die.
- Then, cut between each scallop to make the flower petals.
- Next, I used a sponge dauber and So Saffron ink (with a very small amount of Champagne Shimmer Paint) to color the flower petals.
- Finally, I punched Early Espresso card stock with the 1/4″ Circle Punch and attached them to the center of the flower with mini glue dots. See the close up below.

Gatefold Measurements:
The card base is Early Espresso, cut to 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″, scored at 2 1/8″ and 6 3/8″. I used So Saffron card stock on the front panels, layered with Greenhouse Gala DSP. I attached the sunflower to the left panel only with a small piece of Sticky Strip.

Inside, I lined the base with So Saffron, Greenhouse Gala DSP, and Whisper White stamped with the Curly Cute congratulations stamp in Early Espresso ink. At the bottom, I attached a strip of card stock and DSP with mini glue dots (along the sides and bottom only) to form a little pocket. It will hold a gift card or folded bill/check.

This color combination is from the Color Coach: Poppy Parade, Baja Breeze, and So Saffron. The base is Poppy parade, layered with Poppy Parade DSP from the Level 1 Hostess Prints Pack. The patterns are different from anything we’ve ever had–I love them.
I stamped the pies from Every Little Bit on Whisper White with Chocolate Chip ink. Then, I colored them in with coordinating color Stampin Write Markers. I paper pierced around the edges with the paper piercer to tie everything together.
The stamped layer is matted on Baja Breeze, which I embossed with the Square Lattice Embossing Folder and the Big Shot. The ribbon is White 3/8″ Taffeta Ribbon that I colored with So Saffron Marker. The Whisper White and Baja Breeze layers are each adhered with stampin dimensionals.

Inside, I used scraps of Poppy Parade DSP, Whisper White, and Baja Breeze. I stamped the sentiment from Birthday Bakery Hostess Level 1 set in Chocolate Chip ink. I punched it out with the Word Window Punch and layered it onto Poppy Parade punched with the Modern Label Punch.
I started out making a card to put in a movie basket–a basket with popcorn, movie style candy, and tickets from the local movie theater. Thinking about movies, I came up with the Popcorn Basket idea. This is a variation on the Slide Out Gift Card Holder.
Popcorn Basket Card
- Cut Real Red card stock to 4 1/2″ x 12″ and score along the long edge at 4″ and 8 1/4″.
- Using the Scallop Edge Punch, punch along the top of the real red card stock.
- Apply Sticky Strip along the bottom of the center panel and fold the right side over the center panel. Then, put Sticky Strip on the left panel, along the bottom and the left edge. Fold over and stick.
- Cut 4 strips of Whisper White card stock to 1 1/4″ x 4″ and using SNAIL, adhere them to the front of the card, evenly spaced.

- For the insert, cut a piece of black card stock to 4″ x 5″ and round the top corners with the Corner Rounder Punch. Cut Whisper White card stock to 3 3/4″ x 4 3/4″ and round the top corners again.
- Adhere the White to the Black card stock and using the Slit Punch, punch approximately 1″ from the bottom. This slit will hold the movie tickets.
- Stamp the ice cream scoop from Sweet Scoops all over the White card stock with So Saffron ink. Stamp directly on the card stock, then two more times before reinking. Keep stamping like this, in a random pattern.

- Stamp 4 scoops onto scrap Whisper White or Very Vanilla, stamping off each time (to get a lighter color). Trim each one out and attach them to the top of the insert piece using Stampin Dimensionals.
- Stamp a sentiment on the insert, if desired.
- Tie Black Satin Ribbon around the card and make a knot.
- Stamp “Just for You” from Oval All in Black and Red Marker on Whisper White. Punch out with 1 3/8″ Circle Punch and layer onto Black Scallop Circle Punch out.
- Using the larger hole of the Cropadile, make a hole at the top of the Scallop Circle and loop Silver Cord through, tying it around the Black Satin knot.
