Baby Scrapbook Just For You

I found this retired Simply Scrappin Kit called Just For You at my upline’s retired item sale. This kit was so cool–it even came with beautiful, wide, So Saffron ribbon!

Page 1 of the baby scrapbook I made. It turned out so much better than I thought it would. I’m a little rusty with scrapbooking–it’s been almost a year! Working with the kits is sometimes hard for me, because it’s a little stifling when you’re constrained to the contents of the kit. Normally, I use the paper and some of the self adhesive stickers (because they’re repositionable I love them!) but add my own twist on accessories. Once I got going with this kit, it came along pretty quickly!

Page 1 also incorporates So Tweet Chipboard and the Good Friend stamp set. I used the Top Note Die to create the “stats” area and an Ice Circle Rhinestone Brad gives the bird some bling.

On page 2 of the scrapbook, I used Thickers Alphabet Stickers in White to title. The squares along the top and bottom were made using a 7/8″ square punch.

Page 3 was made for the new baby’s Big Sister Emily. I used the 1 3/4″ Circle Punch and Thickers Alphabet Stickers in Brown for the title. In the center of the page, there’s a spot for journaling, which I made using the Kit’s self adhesive die cut rectangles and Certainly Celery ribbon.

I’ll post the rest of the pages, along with scrap maps, soon–check back in the next few days! WAIT TIL YOU SEE THE LAST PAGE!!!

Very Thankful (and Very Cute) Turtle

I can’t decide which is cuter–this card or the one I made earlier. I had the idea to paper piece the turtle shell and raise it up with a dimensional or glue dot. It’s a great effect, especially with the paper pieced spots!

The image from Very Thankful was stamped twice: once on whisper white and once on Old Olive, both in Basic Black ink. I colored in the image on White with SU Watercolor Pencils and Blender Pen. Then, I trimmed out the shell from the Old Olive card stock and adhered it to the stamped image with a thick glue dot. The spots on the turtle shell were made using the small hole of the Crop-a-dile and a regular office supply hole puncher. Crushed Curry and Kiwi Kiss were the colors I used for the spots.

I layered the image onto Bermuda Bay and Crushed Curry. The card base is Kiwi Kiss, with a long panel of Striped Kraft running vertically down the front. Horizontally, I added a thick strip of Chocolate Chip layered with a thin strip of Real Red. On either side of the focal image, I added 2 White Jumbo Basic 5/16″ Brads.

Thankful Turtle

This little turtle guy is too cute! Image is from Very Thankful, which is the Ronald McDonald House of the Year stamp set. When you order the set, SU donates $2 to Ronald McDonald House Charities. I usually buy the RMHC stamp set every year, not only because it’s for a good cause, but they’re usually really cute! Last year’s was Say it with Scallops, which I used recently here.

Card base is Close to Cocoa, with a Crushed Curry textured cardstock layer that I scalloped with the Scallop Edge Punch. To give a little more interest, I paper pierced the scallops. The image is stamped in Basic Black on Whisper White. Then, I colored it in with SU Watercolor Pencils and Blender Pen. The hearts were colored with Real Red Marker. The best part is the turtle shell–I applied 2 layers of Crystal Effects on the shell to make it shiny and raised. It’s difficult to see in the photo but the effect is cool!

I paper pierced the top and bottom edge of the Whisper White, layering it on Real Red and Striped Kraft card stock (from Taste of Textiles) with dimensionals. Along the bottom of the card, I inked up just the words from the stamp with Close to Cocoa Marker and stamped along the edge three times. A piece of Old Olive 5/8″ Grosgrain ribbon tied into a big knot around the Crushed Curry layer finishes off the card.
