It’s a Baby Girl, Congrats!

I made this card for a friend who just had a baby girl today. I haven’t been too inspired lately, so as soon as we got the news, I had an idea pop into my head and went off to make a card for the baby & proud parents.

Using the stamp set A Happy Heart, I wanted to achieve a soft look in varying shades of pink. The card base is Blush Blossom, layered with a wide strip of textured Chocolate Chip card stock. The image layer is Whisper White, which I stamped using various shades of pink Markers: Regal Rose, Cameo Coral, Blush Blossom, Pretty in Pink. In the center, I stamped “congratulations” in Chocolate Chip ink, from SAB Congrats set.

Before adhering the Chocolate Chip layer to the base, I punched a 3/16″ hole in the bottom with the crop a dile and used an eyelet from Hooray hardware that says “too cute to handle”.

Inside, I stamped another sentiment from Congrats, “on the birth of your beautiful baby”. Hopefully baby and mom are doing well and I look forward to giving this card to them as soon as possible!

His and Hers Birds

HIS

HERS

As everyone who reads my blog knows by now, I LOVE THIS BIRD! I decided to do a his and hers thing after I stamped the bird in Regal Rose ink. I liked how it turned out, plus it gave me an excuse to use the Hooray Eyelets that I’ve been hoarding. I’m turning over a new leaf–I now use any accessory I feel like using and I don’t feel bad about it at all. I even used up all my flower brads the other day!! Oh well, I’ll just have to order more!! With the new catalog coming, I’m trying to make room. I can’t justify getting new stuff if I still have packages of old stuff untouched. I’ll admit though, the big shiny brown buttons from Button Latte have been impossible to part with just yet. Maybe one day….

As for these cards, the base is Close to Cocoa, layered with a strip of alternating pieces of Textured Kiwi Kiss and Taken with Teal card stock. The bird from Good Friend was stamped on Whisper White card stock in Regal Rose ink for the “her” version and Baja Breeze ink for the “his” version. Using a mask, I stamped the legs in Chocolate Chip ink. I used So Saffron ink for the pink bird’s beak and Pumpkin Pie ink for the blue bird’s beak.

On the “her” card, I used the Friends Forever jumbo eyelet from Hooray, which I attached using my crop-a-dile. The “his” version also uses a jumbo eyelet from Hooray, with a blue Ice Circle Rhinestone Brad in the center.

All in a Row

I remembered seeing this beautiful card on Splitcoast a long time ago and always wanted to try something similar. Since my friend and his wife are going to have a baby any day now, I decided today would be as good a time as ever! I’m going out on a limb and guessing it’s a boy, even though they haven’t found out the gender, because the baby is weighing in at about 8.5 lbs. so far.

I purposely left out a sentiment because I haven’t decided yet whether to use the SAB Congrats set or the Warm Words stamp set.

Onto the details: I stamped the ducks, from Goody Goody Gumdrops in Black Staz-on on Whisper White. Then, using my Watercolor Crayons and Watercolor Pen, I colored them in. With a 7/8″ square punch, I popped them out and layered them onto a 1 1/4″ square of Close to Cocoa card stock. On the back of each, I placed 2 dimensionals, one on the top and one on the bottom.

The panel behind the ducks is So Saffron layered onto Old Olive card stock. I paper pierced the Old Olive and ran the white gel pen over it to look like stitching. Then, I took a piece of natural rope twine (from the last Holiday Mini) and placed it across the So Saffron card stock. Peeling off the backing from the dimensionals, I then adhered them to the So Saffron card stock. The space between the two dimensionals acts as a channel for the rope to sit in nicely.

The Old Olive/Saffron panel is adhered with dimensionals to a strip of Striped Kraft card stock, from Taste of Textiles collection. I added two Jumbo Eyelets to the striped kraft, and ran the rope twine through them, adhering the ends to the back with a bit of snail. Then, I used dimensionals to adhere that layer to the base, which is Baja Breeze card stock.

When I decide which sentiment to use, it will most likely go above or below the ducks onto the Old Olive card stock.
