I was on Splitcoast last week and saw a new tutorial for a triangle box. The first thing I thought was to make it using acetate. Stamping on acetate was a little tough, not sure if I did it right, but it came out good enough for my little experiment. (I think you have to stamp on the back or rough side?)
When following the instructions for the triangle box, you will end up with a small strip of paper left over (3 1/2″ x 11″). The actual box is quite larger than I anticipated so I made the box again using the small scrap and I like that size much better for my application. Being that the triangle is tapered at the bottom, and therefore lies down more than stands up, I thought it would make a good placecard or favor since it could lie on a plate or be tucked into a napkin.
This is how it turned out as a placecard and/or favor. I think it would look great on my Thanksgiving table and yours too! Next time, I might make some changes to the stamped image or the ribbon and maybe even the candy, but I used what I had on hand today (M&Ms).
Other ideas I had: I put a couple of cinnamon sticks inside, tied with a little cord. You could also tie a cinnamon stick in the ribbon topper, or use twine instead of ribbon for a more rustic look. If you have something colorful inside (like these M&Ms) you may not even need to stamp the outside. Just dress it up with a belly band. The new Stampin Up Curly Label Punch or Designer Label Punch would be perfect layered on a belly band with the person’s name on it.
