Altered Domino Magnets

This is my first attempt at making Domino Magnets. I used the tutorial on splitcoaststampers.com but I didn’t seal mine (yet). From left, the colors are Certainly Celery, Baja Breeze, and Cameo Coral.

After a lot of trial and error, this is the way I had success: I stamped onto a freshly sanded domino in White Craft ink, then embossed with White Embossing Powder. After heating for a while and waiting for the embossed image to fully dry (learned that the hard way), I applied my reinker using a tissue. I rubbed the color into the domino and wiped off any excess. The embossed image resists color, leaving you with a crisp white image.

For the New Home domino, I colored the image using Prismacolor Markers (any permanent marker will work). Stamp is from Katie & Co. (Michaels’s $1 stamp). Here is a close up:

Other stamps used are from Great Friend, Goody Goody Gumdrops, and Eastern Blooms. On the back I glued on a magnetic disc using Crystal Effects.

Parisian Breeze Merci/Thanks

I forgot how much I really love this Parisian Breeze DSP. Once I start using it, I find I can’t stop!

The card front is a 4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″ piece of Parisian Breeze DSP that I ran through the CB using the Top Note die. I made sure to center the die in the center of the paper. After cutting it out, I simply turned the die cut over to the polka dot side and placed it back into the empty space. Before adhering the Top Note back onto the card front, I wrapped some satin Baja Breeze ribbon (From Ribbon Originals–Valet) around it using glue dots.

I stamped the butterfly “thank you” stamp from Oval All in Baja Breeze ink onto Shimmery White card stock and punched it out using the Scallop Oval Punch. That was then adhered to the ribbon using dimensionals. Easy as that!

Something Borrowed, Something Blue

Wedding season is approaching, and I’m going to be prepared by building up my arsenal of cards. This card was not working and I almost abandoned it, but to my surprise I got it to work. It’s a very elegant card with lots of shimmer and texture and shine–three of my favorite things!

The card base is 4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″ Shimmery White card stock, layered with a 4″ x 5 1/4″ piece of Parisian Breeze DSP (which is textured and thicker weight than regular DSP). On top of the polka dot layer is the brown damask print (again from Parisian Breeze) which I cut using the Top Note die and my CB.

Across the front, I used a strip of Textured Chocolate Chip card stock, layered with a piece of satin Baja Breeze Ribbon (from the Ribbon Originals-Valet). To top it off, I used my newest purchase–the Scallop Oval Punch–to punch the Baja Breeze Scallop. In the center, I stamped “Best Wishes” from Oval All, the coordinating stamp set, on Shimmery White card stock in Chocolate Chip craft ink and embossed it with clear embossing powder. That was punched out with the Large Oval Punch and layered onto the scallop oval. Then, I adhered it to the ribbon strip with dimensionals.

Finally, the cake from For the Bride was stamped in Chocolate Chip craft ink onto Shimmery White card stock and clear embossed, trimmed out with paper snips, and adhered to the card using dimensionals.
