You’re Invited!

Base is Kiwi Kiss, 4.25×5.5″ opens on the right (like a book). Depending on which way you cut your 8.5″x11″ sheet of card stock, you will get different folds and orientations.

For example, as shown below, if you cut vertically down the middle, and score across the shorter side, you’ll end up with the type of fold I used for this card. Alternatively, you could position the fold along the top of the card (it’ll open from the bottom) and the orientation will be “portrait” rather than “landscape”.

I stamped the image, from All in the Family in Black Stazon ink on Whisper White card stock. This was colored in using the SU Watercolor Pencils and blended with the Blender pen. Also, I popped up the White layer on dimensionals.

To finish off the invitation, I layered Regal Rose 5/8″ Grosgrain ribbon with the Bermuda Bay 1/2″ Polka Dot Grosgrain Ribbon, attaching it with some Snail to hold the pieces in place. I wrapped the ribbon around the entire front flap of the card, pinning the loose ends on the front of the card underneath the Bermuda Bay 1 3/4″ circle, which was stamped with “You’re Invited” from the Introducing stamp set. I stamped it in Versamark and embossed with White Embossing powder. It was attached to the card with dimensionals.

All in the Family (Again)

All in the Family is a great stamp set. I’ll probably never get tired of using it, there are so many possibilities. This is an invitation a coworker asked me to make for her grandchild/great grandchild’s combined birthday party.

The base isBaja Breeze card stock, layered with Regal Rose and Kiwi Kiss. The Regal Rose was scalloped along the bottom with the Scallop Edge Punch. Next, I wrapped a piece of Crushed Curry Polka Dot Grosgrain around the 2 pieces of card stock.

The image was stamped in Black Stazon ink onto Whisper White card stock and colored in with Watercolor Pencils, which I blended using the Blender Pen. I like the look of the blender pen–it makes everything smooth and even. Behind the image layer is a piece of Chocolate Chip card stock popped up on dimensionals.

Sentiment is from Please Come and is embossed with White embossing powder.

Strawberry Cake

This cake is so addicting I made two of them in as many days and they are both gone! The recipe is Strawberry Country Cake from a Barefoot Contessa Cookbook, but you can also find the recipe online here. It makes two 8″ cakes, but you could probably use one 9″ deep cake pan and cut either 2 thick layers or make a 3 layer cake that way. The cake recipe was foolproof and flawless for me–I followed it to the letter.  I did, however, eyeball the heavy cream and strawberries AND I added sliced bananas to the middle layer because I had some ripening ones on hand.

Yummy and pretty easy. It keeps well in the fridge overnight–doesn’t get soggy at all. I can’t attest to keeping it any longer because it didn’t last more than 1 1/2 days in our house!
