Butterflies

I got to play with some new stamp sets and accessories yesterday! I preordered this set from the upcoming Mini Catalog, Great Friend. I saw this card and was inspired to make something with this set.

The card base is a 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″ piece of textured Kiwi Kiss, folded in half. Next, is a layer of Apricot Appeal, with a piece of Urban Garden DSP on top. The two strips were made up of 1 1/2″ x 4 3/4″ pieces of Chocolate Chip cardstock, layered with a 1 1/4″ strip of Whisper White. I stamped the leafy stamp, also from Great Friend in Kiwi Kiss ink, and stamped off to get a two-tone effect.

At the ends of the strips, I attached the glittery butterflies. To make the butterflies, I stamped the image in Versamark on Whisper White card stock, twice. Then I applied Heat and Stick powder and heat set it to activate. Next, I put on some Supernova Glitter, one in Pink and the other in Brown. Brush off any excess glitter with a soft tissue and cut the glittery butterflies out with scissors. To give them some height, I adhered them to the card with dimensionals.

In the center of the card, I stamped the sentiment from Great Friend on Whisper White using my SU Markers. I colored in the text with Chocolate chip and the “friend” with Cameo Coral. Then, I punched out the sentiment with my 1 3/8″ circle punch and adhered it to a Chocolate Chip circle cut out with my 1 3/4″ circle punch. For added interest, I used my paper piercer to make holes around the edge of the circle. This was also adhered to the card with dimensionals.

Modern Happiness

I can’t say it enough–I LOVE this Urban Oasis DSP. Even though this particular pattern is rather subtle, it’s simultaneously very striking and graphic.

The card base is Going Gray cardstock, layered with the chevron print Urban Oasis DSP. This flower is from Pick a Petal stamp set. I stamped it in Black on a 3″x4″ piece of Whisper White cardstock. I stamped the center first, then stamped the petals in clock formation to ensure they were evenly spaced. Start at 12 o’clock, 3, 6, and so on. I watercolored the petals with Baja Breeze and the watercolor pen. In the center of the flower, I used the cropadile to punch a hole and put in a large Kiwi Kiss Corduroy brad.

Next, I adhered the white layer to a piece of Baja Breeze card stock and wrapped some black velvet ribbon around it. The ribbon is from the Ribbon Originals Valet collection. Finally, I added a sentiment from Warm Words, stamped in black just above the ribbon. The Baja Breeze layer is adhered to the base with dimensionals.

Hoo’s Birthday?

Another day passes in March, another birthday approaching. I’m going to keep turning out birthday cards until April, at which time I’ll start on welcome baby cards. My sister and several friends/acquaintances are all due right around the same time!

The details on this fun birthday card: Card base is Baja Breeze cardstock, stamped with the flower from Good Friend in the same color ink. The Tangerine Tango oval is from the Scalloped Oval Bigz die. I used a rub on from Bright Delights for the polka dots along the strip of Chocolate chip card stock. Two Kiwi Kiss corduroy brads finish off the strip, which I adhered with dimensionals. The chipboard owl is part of the So Tweet set, covered in a DSP from Urban Oasis. I used large googly eyes that I had left over from another project and glued them on. Finally, I stamped the “happy birthday” sentiment from last year’s SAB set Birthday Whimsy.
