More Bling using the Manhattan Flower

I love this technique of using the debossed side of the Manhattan Flower embossing folder and filling it with glitter. See my previous attempt here. Two colors of glitter down, let’s see how many more I can try!

Again, I used the Bronze metallic card stock, part of Taste of Textiles. If you haven’t already kids, this is great stuff!! It’s a top fold card, 4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″, embossed with the Manhattan Flowers folder. After running it through the CB, I folded it debossed side out/raised side in. Using my Martha Stewart Glue pen (another highly recommended product with all sorts of uses) I traced around the image and then sprinkled on some green fine glitter, from the SU Supernova collection. The green is close to Kiwi Kiss I’d say. Brush off any excess and then I tied a piece of Kiwi Kiss/Very Vanilla Satin Ribbon around the top. The inside of the card was lined with Very Vanilla card stock.

These are going to be hoarders, I can just feel it. Seriously, I’ll try to be good and give this card to someone, but I may need to hold on to it for a little while longer!

New and Old Friend

This card uses some of my favorite retired items, plus some brand new accessories, that’s the reason I’m calling it “New and Old Friend”. The polka dot DSP is from a retired Simply Scrappin Kit, Crew Girl I belive it was called. The colors are Regal Rose, Pretty in Pink, Going Gray, Basic Gray, and Wild Wasabi. I mounted the DSP onto a piece of Black Linen card stock (Taste of Textiles) and then layered that onto the Going Gray card base.

The strip across the card is a piece of Black Linen card stock, layered with Whisper White. I used a retired rub on from Love & Happiness in black. Then, I sponged some Pretty in Pink over the whole panel.

Down in the bottom right hand corner, I used a new Large Grommet in Silver. The package comes with 4 colors: silver, white, vanilla, and black. I punched the Grommet through the DSP, then folded back the prongs with my bone folder. Next, I used the crop-a-dile and punched a hole in the center of the Grommet and popped in a White 5/8″ Basic Brad. These also come in 4 colors: silver, white, brown, and vanilla. On top of the brad, I used another rub on (butterfly) from the Love & Happiness pack.

Purple Cupcakes

Looking back over my projects, I came to the realization that I always use the same colors. Chocolate Chip anyone?? I’m trying to branch out, and Purple is branching WAY out for me. I may have made 3 purple cards in my lifetime. I can’t think of any of them right now, but I’m guessing I had to make at least that many in the 3 years I’ve been doing this!

Here, I used 2 purples–I know, crazy! The card base is Pale Plum. I cut a piece of Pale Plum 4″x5 1/4″ and ran it through the CB using the Swiss Dots embossing folder. Then, I adhered it to the card base using dimensionals with the raised side down. Sometimes those raised bumps gross me out a little. This way is much less creepy for me!

The image is from Crazy for Cupcakes stamped in Black Stazon on watercolor paper. I “watercolored” with my Markers (see my favorite tutorial here) and used White Liquid Applique on the cupcakes to frost them. I just applied the Liquid Applique and let it dry overnight. If you heat set it, it will puff up like marshmallow. The watercolor paper is layered with So Saffron card stock and Perfect Plum. I paper pierced the corners and tied a piece of Perfect Plum 1/4″ grosgrain ribbon around the base.
