Hoo’s Birthday?

Another day passes in March, another birthday approaching. I’m going to keep turning out birthday cards until April, at which time I’ll start on welcome baby cards. My sister and several friends/acquaintances are all due right around the same time!

The details on this fun birthday card: Card base is Baja Breeze cardstock, stamped with the flower from Good Friend in the same color ink. The Tangerine Tango oval is from the Scalloped Oval Bigz die. I used a rub on from Bright Delights for the polka dots along the strip of Chocolate chip card stock. Two Kiwi Kiss corduroy brads finish off the strip, which I adhered with dimensionals. The chipboard owl is part of the So Tweet set, covered in a DSP from Urban Oasis. I used large googly eyes that I had left over from another project and glued them on. Finally, I stamped the “happy birthday” sentiment from last year’s SAB set Birthday Whimsy.

Happy Birthday with a cherry on top :)

My 2 1/2 year old Daughter helped me make this–it’ll be her Daddy’s birthday card. This is me trying to use up my scraps! I had a So Saffron Top Note cut out, a square of textured Taken with Teal, and a little piece of chocolate chip cardstock left over from previous projects. I still have TONS more scraps but I’m trying to use them wherever and whenever I can!

The base is Riding Hood Red cardstock, layered with the So Saffron (cut out using the Top Note Bigz Die). Next, I used a piece of textured Taken with Teal card stock (I’m newly obsessed with textured card stock) for a little bit of texture and color.

The image is from the level 3 hostess set Goody Goody Gumdrops. I stamped it on Watercolor Paper using Black Stazon ink. Then, using my watercolor brush and Watercolor crayons, I colored in the ice cream using several colors of brown, the glass with a light wash of blue, and the cherry of course, in red. I stamped the cherry once on top of the ice cream and again on another piece of watercolor paper. Then I cut out just the cherry (minus the stem) and adhered it to the sundae using a glue dot. The watercolor paper was matted onto a piece of chocolate chip card stock and adhered to the Teal.

Below the image is my favorite part of this card. I punched out a 1″ circle of chocolate chip cardstock and using the crop-a-dile, added a large Kiwi Corduroy brad. I adhered it to the card using dimensionals and tucked the sentiment behind it slightly. (I stamped the sentiment, also from Goody Goody, in Black Stazon on watercolor paper. Then, I clipped both corners with the Corner Rounder punch.)
