Fall/Autumn DIY Wedding Ideas

I’ve been pretty quiet the past week or so, because THIS is what I’ve been up to!

Wedding cake, invitations, decorations, etc. Not MY wedding–my brother in law and my new sister in law got married over the weekend in a beautiful, rustic, perfect fall wedding.

I offered to help with invitations, cake, and anything else they needed. Here are the results!

Carrot Cake

Wedding Cake is a rustic 3 tier (12″, 9″, 6″) Carrot Cake with Cream Cheese Frosting. I added some cinnamon and honey to the frosting, which gave it a nice flavor and slightly tan color, which matched the Raffia tied around the bottom of each tier.

Caramel Apple Favors

The apples were dipped in melted caramel (Kraft caramels worked the best!), chopped walnuts & heath bar bits. We used twigs from my yard as a stick and tied the bags closed with various colors of raffia. I made the thank you tag with the Day of Gratitude stamp set, Very Vanilla card stock, and punched them out with a 1 1/8″ Circle Punch.

Love Birds {Fall Theme}

With an upcoming fall wedding (well, I haven’t technically been invited yet, but I know the invitation’s coming since I helped make them) I have autumn colors on the brain. This started out as a possible wedding invitation, but by leaving off any type of “you’re invited” sentiment, it’s general enough to use for any occasion really.

This card is 5″ x 7″ finished size, with the base color being Crumb Cake. I stamped the front with the Woodgrain stamp in the same crumb cake ink. Across the front, I added a strip of chocolate chip card stock, paper pierced along the bottom.

The main image is from Season of Friendship, stamped on Very Vanilla card stock in chocolate chip ink for the trunk, so saffron, pumpkin pie, and cajun craze for the leaves. As for the birds, I stamped them in taken with teal ink, then cut them out. In order for them to face each other, I turned over one of the birds and stamped all over the back with the stamp and taken with teal ink. Then, I used the White Gel Pen to make a little eye and that’s it–now they’re love birds! I attached them to the tree with 2 mini glue dots each.

In the lower corner, I stamped “love” from Tiny Tags in chocolate chip ink. I LOVE those little brackets–they are too cute.

I distressed the edges of the very vanilla card stock with the Cutter Kit distressing tool and rubbed some Creamy Caramel ink around the edges with a Sponge Dauber. Then, the very vanilla was layered with Cajun Craze and attached to the base.

Finally, I sprayed the whole front of the card with Shimmer Mist that I made using 70% Rubbing Alcohol and Frost Shimmer Paint.

Until the invitations are mailed, I don’t want to post a picture and spoil the surprise–so be on the lookout for the invitation that made the cut!

Fall Save the Date–Leaves are Falling

SaveTheDate 017 copy

This is the last of the fall/autumn Save the Date cards I made. It’s probably one of the last few fall cards I’ll be making for the year. Since I already went crazy with Christmas cards last month, I’m hitting a wall so to speak. At least until something new comes along 🙂

The card is rather long and skinny because I toyed with the idea of making it a bookmark. But then I didn’t want to cut off the top by putting a hole for an eyelet and some twine/ribbon so I decided against it. I may rework it to be a bookmark again, I’ll just have to plan better next time.

The base here is more mustard, layered with chocolate chip textured card stock. On top of that, I took a strip of kraft and punched the sides using the Scallop Edge Punch. Then, I rolled it through the Crimper and finally poked holes in each scallop with the paper piercer. That layer is adhered to the base with dimensionals.

On top, I stamped the tree from Season of Friendship in creamy caramel ink, then stamped the leaves in so saffron, pumpkin pie, and tangerine tango. Some leaves were stamped along the bottom as well.

At the top, I stamped “Save the Date” from Introducing in chocolate chip craft ink and heat embossed it with clear embossing powder. Down over the tree trunk, I stamped the information from Please Come stamp set, but this could also be printed on the computer just as easily.
